We breed for an ideal we are only beginning to realize. In the coming years, we plan to put on the ground Welsh Ponies with the size, character, and way of going which will be known as the EVANS LOOK.

Section A Welsh Stallion - *Friars Sooty

Our bloodlines are superb, the best of the Welsh World, both in the US and Europe. Temperment, Athleticism, Brilliance. Quality is our goal and it is our watchword, our guide to excellence.
We breed for our future generations to come. We prize the champions that we have bred and own today, and are molding their pedigrees into legends of tomorrow, forming a breed standard that can't be paralleled.
The history behind Mt. Dragon exists because of two wonderful people, my parents Ceciel and Paul Evans. My Mother put me in front of her on a pillow for my first ride when I was nine months old. I have been riding ever since.
From my Dad I learned the fundamentals of handling horses and training. One of his favorite sayings was "You just have to have more time than the horse."
Although my parents have both been gone for several years, Mt Dragon Pony acres is located on the family farm which I grew up on. It represents the fulfillment of a life long love of horses in general and Welsh Ponies in particular. We have the good fortune of live in a beautiful isolated area in Oregon, complete with plentiful pasture, trees, rivers, and wildlife. We are surrounded on three sides by the National Forest with miles of trails and open country to ride in.

Section B Welsh Stallion - Bristol Victorio

The magic of the Welsh had long captured my imagination. We became serious about breeding Welsh in 1986. In 1990 I had the good fortune to have the opportunity to purchase Bristol Victorio from Cherry Wilson of the well-known and respected Bristol Pony Farm. The Bristol Ponies have long been sought after for their bold movement, substance, and beauty. Cherry's program consistently used the old wonderful bloodlines in proven crosses. Victorio was the last son of the incomparable Lithgow Wishnik and by the National Champion Stallion RosMel Cotillion. In Cherry's words, "Victorio is simply the best." Victorio's foals prove that she was so right. We have followed the Bristol success formula with embellishments of our own. Along the Bristol lines we own Bristol Jade, and RosMel Magic In Motion. We have retained the best of the Victorio daughters on which to build our future program. They include Evans Paradise City and Evans Bram Stoker. Another step for our breeding program was the addtion of importing several stallions from the UK, Scotland and the Netherlands who have come to us with great show records. They include National Champion and Royal of England Champion *Wedderlie Maradonna, Multi UK Champion and Res. Supreme UK Champion *Bronheulog Armani, UK Winner *Priestwood Domingo, Champion Kenwood Royal Charter, UK and National Champion *Menai Carlo and UK Champion *Friar's Sooty. We have kept our own lines in our breeding program, keeping the incredible son of Internat'l Supreme and Ridden Champion Land's End Royal Fox and out of Evans Bram Stoker, International Champion Evans Providence of the Night. Providence is a sterling example of the quality we strive to produce. A second generation Evans pony, he won his international and Sport Pony Champion titles in 2004, then won his Champion Riding title in 2005! He was inspected in 2006 with the American Warmblood Society and was awarded a silver medal for the second highest score of the inspection!
Mt Dragon is the home of an incredible stable of imported colts and stallions from some of the most prestigious farms in England, Wales, Scotland, the Netherlands and Canada. Their prefixes include Hilin, Eyarth, Wedderlie, Menai, Friars, Priestwood, Kenwood, Cadlan Valley, Holyoake and Morton's. Their sires include stallions who are legends in the Welsh world, top ranked producers, and Champions in their own right including: Eyarth Tayma, Eyarth Rio, Eyarth Celebration, Thornberry Gamekeeper, Eyarth Beau Geste, *Stockham Commander, Friars Fancyman, Weston Wyseworth and Menai Casfridog. 	Evans Bram Stoker (Bristol Victorio X Woodridge Legacy) We have kept Bram as a foundation mare. Her first and only time in the show ring, she was pinned Champion Sec. B Mare.	Kenwood's Princess Royal's first show, the Breukelen Foal And Youngstock Show, was a HUGE success!! She was pinned Best Section B Filly Foal and went on to be Best Filly Foal Overall by Mrs.Megan Lewis of Cwrtycadno Stud. Vught Show 2005 - First in the Yearling Filly class, Youngstock Champion Section B, qualified for the National Show. International Show Belgium 2005 - Second in the Yearling Filly Class Dutch National Show 2005 - First in the Yearling Filly Class and Youngstock Champion Section B


Evans Naked and Famous (Bristol Victorio x Bristol Jade) Owned by Dry Creek Ranch	Evans Broghton Mountain (Bristol Shadow Dancing x Caer Wydr Grenadier) is shown winning the cones class with his owner and trainer Sally Baker. From trainer on first show Brockton went totally clean and even the judge yelled and cheered when we cleared the last set with only one inch on each side of the wheels.
